Model Drawing & Painting Lessons

Would you like to improve your figurative work in a focused, in-depth way?

Atelier Hartwerk will soon offer weekly Thursday evening sessions working with a live model, alternating between portrait sessions and full figure (model) drawing or painting. These classes are designed for anyone who wants to seriously develop their figurative skills, with strong attention to technique, structure and observation — not just quick sketches, but building solid, finished work.

What makes these sessions different? 


Unlike short pose sessions, we work with one pose for an entire session or across multiple sessions.


This gives you the time to:

• properly build up your drawing or painting

• correct proportions and anatomy

• develop form, volume and structure

• work on likeness (during portrait sessions)

• move toward a more finished result instead of stopping at studies


You learn not only what to draw or paint, but how to construct a figure or head step by step.


What will we focus on? 



 Depending on the session (portrait or full figure), we dive into:

•  Anatomy and underlying structure

•  Proportions and measuring techniques

•  Gesture and posture

•  Head construction and facial features (portrait sessions)

•  Light, shadow and volume

•  Translating what you see into a strong, readable image


Throughout the evening, I provide individual guidance, demonstrations where helpful, and corrections adapted to your level.

These sessions are suitable for:

•  People who already have some basic drawing or painting experience

•  Artists who want to improve their figurative or portrait skills

•  Students preparing for art school or wanting structured practice

•  Painters who want to strengthen their drawing foundation

Practical information


• When: Thursday evenings 19-22h

• Format: alternating portrait and full-figure model sessions

• Pose duration: one full session or multiple sessions on the same pose

• Location: Atelier Hartwerk (my personal studio)

• Materials: please bring your own drawing or painting materials
